I've just been so much of a book person all my life that I never thought seriously about music but I'm thinking about it now and a pattern begins to emerge...Apparently the guitar does it for me..heh. Love this one by Stoney. It's called 'Best laid plans'. Click on the tiny icon above to listen. Oh, and it has an unfortunate tendency to buffer but do persevere. It's worth it.

Well...kinda. New laptop, people. It's been weeks since the old one died (prematurely, I might add. What I will not add are choice curse words about Dell.) It's exciting to be back in touch with the internet world. Then I read about Heath Ledger's death.

Looking back, Letting go

Lately I've been reading a lot of posts re-capping the events of the last year and what it has taught them and I thought oh, that's cool, I should do that. Not necessarily on Vox but in my head, you know. But strangely enough, once I started it was like the universe was flashing me these messages about looking forward instead of back, letting go instead of hanging on....Sounds strange? Oh, you have no idea.
Anyway, after way too many freaky coincidences I thought, who am I to mess with the universe?
I gave up on New Year resolutions a very long time ago but this year I decided to try one more time; this year I'm going to try and remember what the universe tells me.

So, in that spirit, a song. (Really, you should have seen this coming.)

Taken from the Editor's Letter in this month's issue of Elle.

"I remember being on a bus in St.Petersburg, and the driver, who spoke English and was telling me about the locals, answered one of my questions thusly: 'Am I happy? Happy? Only Americans ask such questions. Russians don't expect to be happy.' "

I wonder if the reason so many of us are (needlessly) miserable is because we keep asking ourselves this question. It takes either a really wise man or a fool to say happiness is over-rated. I have yet to decide which but I have my suspicions.

Not relevant at all but I needed a title. It's been movie re-runs all this week for me, mixed in with my usual doses of reading. Mostly to stave off the severe homesickness I'm experiencing. Seems like everyone's home for the holidays but me. Ahh, well. Come summer I'm gone.
I'm re-heating some frozen pie in the microwave. I can see it collapse. Finger food.
I'd be LOST without my parents. Seriously lost. Some days I'm more aware of this than others.
The cutest alien kid of all times is Kerby (Kerbie?) The orange ball of fluff from Chicken Little, the one with three eyes. No arguments on this head, please. I know cute when I see it. Do they make Kerby's at the toy store? Coz that would be truly awesome.
